Hello Ladies,
Studio update.......
We may be starting classes in March...but I need to know who is interested in attending live classes.
I was contacted by the studio who got our mirrors when we closed the Whitaker studio offering rental space for classes. I checked it out and it will work for us until we get the studio in Lutz opened.
This studio is located in Carrollwood at the corner of Ehrlich/and Dale Mabry--about 5 miles from the Whitaker studio.
We are looking at classes on Wednesday and possibly Friday's, the classes will be in the afternoon, starting no earlier than 6pm. Class size will be limited.
Classes will run for 45min (allowing 15min for classes to exit before new students arrive). The cost will be $55.00 per month or $50.00 if you set up autopay.
We will need at least 4 people enrolled in a class to cover expenses.
If you are interested in starting Live classes in March, please email me [email protected] before Feb 18th.
I hope to have enough interest to start a Beginner class and an Experienced class (I figure we haven't dance, or at least not much, in the last year so this class will get us back up to speed by reviewing isolations and building our strength, flexibility)
Meanwhile, I will continue working on the studio at my home and hopefully we will be dancing there soon.

Kandy/Kadayif
Vlad has quite a following at Beef's. (they know him by name--waitstaff and customers--but they don't know mine haha)..
He can usually be found there on Friday nights (with his Aunt Jan (aka Chandani) and me) His favorite food has been cheese quesadas but lately he has been enjoying hamburgers. In this pix he is enjoying a piece of ice he fished out of my sweet tea. |
Fond memories, of getting ready for GALA--was it two years ago...ugggg. I must have been in a coma in 2020....because here we are in 2021, and unfortunately not preparing for the GALA, but hopefully next year we will be back on track with our productions...
In the mean time we will focus on getting back in the studio and having some informal get togethers and performances. I love you guys! and I so miss classes and performing with you! |
Visions of spooktacular 2018
Fun Fact! Spooktacular was originally the Winter Showcase and one year a couple of dancers asked if we could include some Halloween music numbers in the show.....and as they say---the rest is history!

Aroma Therapy and Stress Headaches
Stress can lead to a variety of types of headaches including tension and even Migraines. The best way to deal with this type of pain is of course to remove the cause of the stress, however, this is not always possible, so we treat it with a multitude of remedies.
Aroma Therapy is a well documented stress reducing practice, whether its applied to the skin, smelled (not sniffed...), or diffused into the air, or added to products we use on our skin.
My favorite oil for tension headaches is Peppermint.
It has been used for thousands of years to treat health problems and found to ease pain from tension headaches, tooth pain and even an upset stomach. It is also frequently used in food and beverages for flavoring and as a fragrance in cosmetics, soaps and candles. It is also frequently used for treatment of coughs, colds, muscle/joint pain, itching and improving mental function.
This herb is a cross between two types of mint (spearmint and water mint) and grows throughout North America and in Europe. It is harvested from the leaves of the Peppermint plant.
A few drops can be massaged into your temples or placed in a diffuser. It gets lost in a hot bath unless you use a large amount, which is of course not practical, but you can always use soaps infused with the oil and move your diffuser to the bathroom when you take you relaxing soak in the tub.
Peppermint oils can be found in many shops so it is readily available. You often find it mixed with other oils in a blend (Lavender, Rosemary, Eucalyptus), but I prefer the pure single oil for my headaches.
I use the dōTERRA brand--mostly because I am a distributor and I know the dōTERRA product is pure oil and fair trade harvested…You can check it out (along with many other oils) on my site--- my.doterra.com/kandy13, or pick it up at any local store or online.

BEllyDance Combination Practice
So we are not in a formal classroom, or a zoom classroom...there is still no reason not to turn on some music and DANCE!.
It doesn't have to be BellyDance music...you have seen that in many of our shows...just be sure to take a few minutes to warm up and stretch out your muscles before you "get physical".
(here is a video warmup if you would like to use it- https://youtu.be/o6D3CDbSvBk).
Our combination for Feb is as follows: (hopefully next month I will have video for you, but for now--use your imagination)
Proper BellyDance Stance (Bend your knees, tuck your butt, lift your chest, relax your shoulders).
Cross step (R foot x over L)--L hip drop x 2 (4 counts total)
Cross step (L foot x over R )-- R hip drop x 2 (4 counts total)
Basic Egyptian (starting on R foot) (8 counts total)
3 point turn to L (end slightly angled to corner) (3 counts total)
Roll up/chest pop. (if your still a beginner--just do a chest pop) (4 counts w/rollup, 2 without)
There you go... a little BellyDance combination to get you back in the dance.
